Is anyone else obsessed with matching colours or themes when gift giving. I have never considered myself as obsessive compulsive but in some areas I think I could be. I like to match my gifts to each other and then match the paper and then to finish it all off a matching ribbon. I think there is a little bit of matchy matchiness in everyone. Whether it be matching your bathroom towels to your bathroom tiles or matching your coffee mugs to your kitchen bench you too have a bit of OCD. And for those of you who just love colour blasting from every corner of your house to every piece of fabric you are wearing , you are also part of this matching gang. Yours is just rainbow. I like things white with a pop of colour , but the pop of colour must have something matching in the exact same tone as the other pop of colour. Its got to be the same white too. Not various shades of white , the same WHITE!! Arrhhhhhh!! So , why are we like this. Why do so desperately want our shoes to match our jumper or why do we only wear silver or gold. What on Earth happened to make the human brain want such order. Is it that we can't cope with chaos in the colour world. Maybe its because Mother Nature has a colour coded our world so perfectly that anything out of place looks exactly that. Out of Place.
If you've ever been into the shop you will see an explosion of colour but an ordered explosion. Although not environmentally friendly , I do love good packaging on a gift. It gives a sense of calm and order. Of beauty and balance. When you match a candle to a hand cream it shows you have taken extra time to choose your gift for this person.
